Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Ted Riley exemplified the epitome of dedication and selflessness, touching the lives of countless patients and inspiring generations of students through his quiet yet profound commitment to excellence. His influence extends beyond the borders of Boston, resonating internationally with students from around the globe who have had the privilege of learning under his guidance at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
Edwin J. Riley III DMD73, PD75 graduated summa cum laude from Boston College with a degree in Biology. He then attended the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, graduating magna cum laude with a Doctorate of Dental Medicine. He was awarded the Gold Medal for Scholastic Excellence, the Alumni Newsbett Award for Excellence in Clinical Dentistry, and the American Academy of Periodontology Award. He was the inaugural graduate of the post-doctoral program in Prosthodontics. He later became the program co-director and taught in the program for decades. He is a lifetime member of numerous prosthodontic organizations, far too many to list here.
After 50 years of teaching and patient care, Ted has finally retired. We are eager to honor his legacy meaningfully by creating the Edwin J. Riley III, DMD73, PD75 Scholarship Fund.
This scholarship will support a Predoctoral student who excels in the Art and Science of Dentistry, a testament to Ted’s unparalleled contributions to dentistry. This Endowed scholarship will serve as a beacon of hope and opportunity for future dental students at HSDM, carrying forward the spirit of generosity and excellence that Ted instilled in all of us who had the privilege of crossing paths with him. The legacy of Ted Riley will forever shine brightly through the lives he has touched. We are all grateful to know him.
